Triglav Circle meeting, France

The Triglav Circle (https://www.triglavcircleonline.org/), created after the 1995 Social Summit in Copenhagen to explore the moral and spiritual dimensions of social issues, held its 2019 meeting at the Chateau d'Ettevaux in the Morvan Nature Park in central France on 28-30 June 2019. The theme of this year's meeting was "The right to work and technological change" addressing the question "Is it desirable, possible and if so through which means, to orient sciences and their technological applications towards the common good, including respect for the right to work?" Participants included Jacques Baudot, former Secretary-General of the 1995 Social Summit and his wife Barbara, a retired university professor, a former Executive Director of the World Council of Churches and his wife from a distinguished German family, a jurist who served 40 years on the French Conseil d'Etat, local farmers and a retired Catholic priest, among others.

Chateau d'Ettevaux

The Chateau d'Ettevaux, 58170 France, was originally a hunting lodge, given as a dowry to the ancestors of the present owner at the time of the restoration of the monarchy in France after the fall of Napoleon. It was remodeled and a neo-Gothic chapel added in the 19th century. It has only been partly restored to serve as a retreat and conference centre. We met in what was formerly the stables.
