My brother Greg and wife Emi organized a family reunion on 21-28 June 2019 around the graduation of their youngest daughter Mina from the Baha'i-inspired Townshend International School (https://www.townshend.cz/) in Hluboka nad Vitavou, Czech Republic. The family gathering included Greg's oldest daughter Carrie Smith-Dahl and her twin daughters Cami and Mica from Oakland, California, his son Ian Smithdahl, wife Stephanie and sons Gaby and Sam from Chicago, his son Gregory, a student at Brown University in Rhode Island, as well as Mina and myself. The only ones missing were his daughter Joyce, about to graduate from the London National Ballet School in London, where all the family was to go after Bulgaria, and our brother Roger. After Hluboka where Greg and Emi live, we all went to Sofia, Bulgaria, and on for two nights in the village of Krupnik where Greg and Emi have a house, to visit Emi's mother. On returning to Sofia we went to stay in the Vitosha Nature Park and hiked up to a stone river. I then returned to Geneva while the others went on to other parts of Bulgaria and then to London for Joyce's graduation.

Each Townshend graduate receives a Townshend collar from a previous graduate. Mina received hers from her brother Gregory, who graduated two years ago. Mina also received a new prize for excellence in literature.

Vitosha Nature Park above Sofia

My last night in Bulgaria, we stayed at a hotel in the Vitosha Nature Park above Sofia, and hiked up to a cascade of large rocks with a stream underneath called the stone river.
