Works of Mark Tobey from the Dahl Collection

Mark Tobey: The New Day ca. 1945. Tempera

This was the first painting purchased by the Dahls, when they had the choice of this with a directly Bahá'í theme and Gothic now in the permanent collection of the New York Museum of Modern Art. Nineteenth century Persian figures recall the early history of the Bahá'í Faith, and white writing reminiscent of Arabic calligraphy may symbolize the Word of God.
